NYE is notorious (for me) as being the most amped up party night with typically the least fun. Bundled walking in the cold, trying to time everything right so you don’t miss the countdown, waiting in long lines for drinks, trying to guess where the party will be…makes me exhausted just thinking about it!
This year our friends at Random Row brewing (my favorite spot to come and hang with the kids –or without–) asked myself and one of my amazing Vie Meal Planners, CIA and Greenbrier-trained Hannah Matarazzo, to help cater their NYE event. They were planning on holding the event (that was kid-friendly–score!) from 5-7 pm. We’ve been wanting to make some food for them for awhile, but since I don’t do much catering anymore and Vie is a Meal Planning Service, not a catering outfit (I can only put oh-so-many candles in the fire), I bowed out and let Hannah, the absolutely amazing chef that she is, take over the project. Still, I offered to help with set-up. It felt so good to be back in the catering saddle again, even if only for a couple hours.
The event was such a success that I can’t wait to participate with the kids and Colin next year. It did sell out this year, no surprise, so I’ll be getting my tickets early next time!
Here is Hannah’s mouthwatering menu:
Fruit & Cheese
Lobster Roll Eclairs
Beet & Goat Cheese Eclairs
Braised Pork Eclairs
Citrus-Shrimp Tacos with Avocado Salad
Crispy Tuna Tacos in Wonton Shells with Seaweed Salad
and my favorite…
Chocolate Milk & Cookies Shots
Everything flew off the tables faster than we could put it out, which I would call a raging success. Random Row sure knows how to throw a party and if you are ever looking for a great caterer, you may have to fight over Hannah!
